WGC reserve manager Neil Draper went into this first game of the season with a new look side - a mixture of his squad from last season and some new faces including, several of under 18 players from the new WGC youth team.

The Citizens started the game very brightly and created numerous chances in the first half, but a combination of some fine saves by the Langford keeper and some lucky breaks in defence for the home side, kept the score 0-0 until 15 minutes from the break.

A ball down the right hand wing by Jordan Tring found its way to debutant Nathan Dimmock, whose shot took a deflection and trickled into the bottom corner for a 1-0 lead.

This lifted the visitors even more and they should have seen themselves into the break with a lead, but after only half clearing a corner, they allowed a perfect cross into the box and debutant keeper Marcus Bourne had no chance with a free header from six yards out.

Into the second half and again WGC started very brightly with Dimmock, Matt McArdle and new signing Joe Price being the architects of most of their attacks. From one of these that WGC re-took the lead.

The tirelessly hard-working Tring linked well with Dimmock, who again found himself free inside the Langford area to cooly finish in the bottom corner.

Draper made changes with his players tiring but almost immediately after a long ball was misjudged by Dean Sadler, it allowed a Langford forward the simplest of finishes to bring it back to 2-2.

With a change of formation WGC Res went for the win, pushing Jordan Tring forward to partner Ade Osubu up front, which allowed Luke Foster to move from left back to wing back.

With only a few minutes left, more great play by Tring, Dimmock and Price saw the ball pulled across the Langford area to find the advancing Foster in acres of space to slot home the winner on his debut.

WGC held out for the points and manager Draper could not praise his players enough, but especially the younger players Adam Wright, Marcus Bourne, Luke Foster, Jordan Tring and man of the match Nathan Dimmock.

WGC Res: Bourne, Pozo, Foster, McArdle, Hoy, Sadler, Tring (J), Dimmock, Wright, Price, Studholme (Osobu).
