A NEW look Welwyn Garden City Reserve team travelled to Oxhey Jets on Saturday for their South Midlands Reserve South & East Division match.

WGC Res are currently 12th in the table and were looking to get something out of the clash with a completely new look team.

New co-manager Sav Caliskan put WGC under pressure within seven minutes by breaking his finger in a challenge and then chipping his own keeper and captain Freddie Hester from fully 30 yards, in spectacular fashion, to make it 1-0 to the home team.

It was all WGC Res from that point with a disallowed goal from Jordan Tring and another dubiously disallowed effort in the 2nd half from an excellent free kick from Dan Harper.

A spectacular finish from the Oxhey Jets winger with just a minute to go made it 2-0 leaving WGC Res disheartened, but upbeat about a good display of effort and heart.

Russell Giblin co-manager said: "Getting a team together with at short notice and putting a display on like that would always please a manager. There were quality performances from Ade Osobu, Jack Gajjar, and Jamie Gillett and the whole team really With 10 games to go we will be looking to move up the table.

" If players are interested in getting involved with this team we have trials available. They can contact me through the Welwyn Garden City reserves Facebook page. We could do with a bit of strength in depth adding to our already hard working squad".
